Schultz, Marguerite F. “Peggy” Hennigan
Formerly of Elmira, New York, who went to be with her Lord & savior, passed away at Bethany Skilled Nursing Facility October 7, 2016. She was born on October 22, 1927, to Joel D. Sr. & Marguerite T. Rupp Hennigan who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her companion William A. Schultz as well as by her sisters and their spouses: Norma W. (Lee H.) Eck of Millport, NY, Eva Mae (Jack) Hammond of Elmira, NY, Joann (Mack) Mason of West Bay, FL; sisters-in-law, Tami Hennigan and Terry Hennigan and brother-in-law Ernest Gilbert Kelley. In addition she was predeceased by niece Marguerite Eck of Millport, NY, who was named after her, nephew Darryl J. Eck of Millport, NY, niece Sheryl Eck Flatt of Horseheads, NY, and nephew Andy L. Sapp of Southport, FL. She is survived by her sister, Amelia Adelaide Kelley of Montour Falls, NY, and her brother Joel D. Hennigan Jr. of Horseheads, NY. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Peggy retired from Big Lots as a cashier in Cincinnati, Ohio. She lived in Ohio for several years after leaving her former job at Hardinge Brothers as a switch board operator and purchase order clerk. Upon the death of her companion she moved back to Chemung County. She was a 1945 graduate of Southside High School. She had a love for sewing, knitting, crochet and above all a camera with which she took many many pictures. She was a communicant of the First Presbyterian Church in Horseheads, NY. She was a member of the Horseheads American Legion Auxiliary Unit 442 and she was the poppy chairperson for several years as well as Chaplin of unit 442. She volunteered at bingo on Thursdays and Sundays as well as in the kitchen on Fridays preparing food for Friday night fish fries at Post 442. In addition to her volunteer work at the American Legion, she also volunteered to deliver meals with Meals on Wheels. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Kevin Sullivan of Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Horseheads, NY. It was her wishes that there be no calling hours. Family and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at the First Presbyterian Church, 2843 Westinghouse Road, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at 11 AM with Dr. Rev. Cheryl Ann Elfond. Internment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers those wishing may remember her with donations to the First Presbyterian Church, Horseheads, NY. Her nieces and nephews wish to extend heartfelt appreciation and thanks to the wonderful staff at Bethany Skilled Nursing Facility for their attention to and care of Marguerite.
