ROEMMELT, Josephine A. “Jo”
Longtime resident of Veteran passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the age of 88. Jo was born August 4, 1929 in Elmira, NY, a daughter to the late Joseph and Agnes Kadlec Pastirik. She is predeceased by daughter, Kathleen Tobey and her husband Robert Roemmelt Sr. She is survived by her children, Kristine (Lawrence) Sigwald, Robert (Kim) Roemmelt Jr. and Bruce (Lori) Roemmelt; grandchildren, Emily (Justin) Grose, Mackenzie (Cole) Parrotta, Sarah (Michael) Rose, Kyle Sigwald, Craig Sigwald, and James Roemmelt; five great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Jo retired with over 20 years as an elementary school teacher in Horseheads. She was very active in the Veteran Grange, Elmira College Alumni and Horseheads Retired Teacher Assoc. Jo was a kind, caring, fair and loving lady that enjoyed time spent with her family. She was an avid baker who influenced her grandchildren’s interest in baking. In addition Jo enjoyed time spent outdoors. The family will welcome relatives and friends to Sullivan’s Funeral Home, 365 E. Franklin St. at Rt. 13, Horseheads, NY on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 3PM-6PM with her Funeral Service to follow. She will be laid to rest at Vary Cemetery, Veteran, NY at the convenience of the family. Those wishing to remember Jo please consider making donations to a charity of one’s choice.
